Thank you Mrs. Carubia for 31 unforgettable years!

A Tribute to Mrs. Carubia from fellow teacher, Cristina Parent

Community Nursery School is privileged to honor, Valerie Carubia, as she begins her retirement after 31 years of dedication and service to our beloved preschool.

Mrs. Carubia was often a child's first teacher. This incredible first step for a child became a significant milestone in their love of learning. Mrs. Carubia appreciated this responsibility and has been a keeper of our future and a champion for children.

She is a music maker and an art creator. She knows the lessons a child learns on the playground, will influence them for years to come. She has given her students the tools for adventure, honoring their spirit and nurturing them along the way.

Need the class to complete a task? - She has a song for that
A child is missing someone? - She has a hug for that
Conflict with a friend? - She has the right words for that
Making messes?- She has a laugh for that
Helping a student with struggles- She has the strength for that

Mrs. Carubia gives her generous heart to everyone she meets. Students were not the only beneficiaries of her talents and kindness. Families that entered our co-op found an ally in parenting and made a friend for years to come. With a smile upon her face, staff always had support and a confidant in Val. She valued the tenants and founding principles of CNS and helped keep the spirit of the cooperative alive year after year.

Mrs. Carubia has a detailed map, deeply woven with stories, families and places, that only a true fixture in our CNS community would know. She knows everyone and everyone knows her.

The Little Folks fair, a Guilford tradition, wouldn't be complete if not for our pocket ladies! Mrs. Carubia would don a pocket lady apron and cruise the green, delighting children as they search for pocket treasures.

The truest testament of our love for Mrs. Carubia is in the faces of our dear students. When you ask a child about Mrs. Carubia, a smile appears on their face, followed by a laugh, and the statement "No fun allowed".

Community Nursery School is deeply grateful to Valerie Carubia, our illustrious teacher. We wish you the best in your retirement. Rest in the knowledge that you have made an indelible mark on our school and all the lives you have touched.
